The lab has openings for one master’s or PhD student who is passionate about ecology with a strong quantitative background. The lab accepts students through the Department of Ecology & Evolutionary Biology at UCLA. The deadline for application is December 1st. More information is on the EEB doctoral program page.

At UCLA and the University of California
- La Kretz Center Postdoctoral Fellowship in California Conservation Science (UCLA Institute of the Environment and Sustainability): for conservation research that works with California’s management agencies.
- UC President’s Postdoctoral Fellowship Program: fellowships with faculty mentoring and professional development for outstanding scholars in all fields. Fellows are a strong pool of future UC faculty.
National
- NSF Postdoctoral Research Fellowships in Biology (PRFB): for early-career biologists, with tracks that change from year to year.
- NSF Mathematical Sciences Postdoctoral Research Fellowships (MSPRF): for mathematicians moving into ecological questions.
- David H. Smith Conservation Research Fellowship: for applied conservation science.
- Schmidt Science Fellows: for recent PhDs who want to change fields, for example from physics or computer science into ecology.
International
- Human Frontier Science Program Postdoctoral Fellowships: for interdisciplinary research in the life sciences in a new country.
- Marie Skłodowska-Curie Global Postdoctoral Fellowships: for researchers in Europe to spend one to two years outside Europe (for example, at UCLA), followed by a year back in Europe.

Eligibility rules and deadlines change every year, so please check each program’s website. Most deadlines fall between September and January, and a strong application takes a few months to prepare.
